Tips and tricks to look your best when you are virtual

If you are someone looking to improve your image, how can you look your very best in your virtual meetings?

Some practical and easy tips to help you to shine your very best in front of a camera!

The main aspects you have to care about are lighting and camera position.

Let’s start!

FIND THE MOST APPROPRIATE LIGHT

Take your time to discover where it is the best place in your house to have your virtual meeting.

Before you choose in front of which window you would like to sit, you have to consider to be close to it with the best natural light possible, where you get a soft light in your face.

A good tip to help you is to use Facetime on your phone and walk through your apartment close to the windows. You can see how the light reflect on your skin, is it too dark or to light?

Find the best place to be, where no shadow is around your eyes, mouth and neck (which increases your age), and wrinkles that you don’t want to have.

Light coming from above and from the side will not be the most flattering.

Once you find the best point possible to sit, set up all you  need for your meeting.

KNOW WHICH IS THE BEST ANGLE OF THE CAMERA

It is important to know where you focus you eyes during your virtual appointment.

When the camera is located incorrectly (below the eyes level), you will tend to look down causing chin and wrinkles in your neck that you surely don’t have.

When you have a video conference or video call, look up a little to the camera, that makes you lift, and your eyes are more open. Set up your computer or phone on a box above the level of your eyes.

A LITTLE EFFORT INTO YOUR MAKE-UP AND HAIR

Although one is working at home, it is important to take care of your image.

If you are one of those persons who never uses makeup, that’s good, just add the minimum necessary to give a care appearance. Wear a mask on your eyelashes, so your eyes look more open, and a natural lipstick, since you do not want to see yourself in disguise. This will not only help you to have a good presence, but also to feel better.

KEEP DISTRACTIONS TO A MINIMUM

Look at your environment, especially the back that captures your camera, everything should be organized and tidy. Taking care of the space where you work and have your virtual meetings speaks volumes about the person you are.

Another situation that can cause distraction, is when you look at yourself, instead of looking at the camera, discover where it is, and look directly at the lens.

Try to avoid noise as much as possible. Now everyone is at home and we should be a little more flexible. But it could be good to ask the rest of the family, that during your virtual meeting they try not to make too much noise.

Try to dress yourself comfortable, but smart. Dress according to the type of work you do. Even if you are at home, give importance to the upper part that is what people see, but if you decide not to dress appropriately at the bottom, have everything arranged so that you do not have the need to get up to  find things.

Make a good time for every virtual moment!
